Meeting types

Introduces the four meeting types you can choose in new meeting setup.

A meeting type sets the discussion approach. Choose how conclusions are organized and what output to create separately. Check the available combinations in setup.

Dialogue — when you want to broaden perspectives

Explore different interpretations and possibilities before narrowing your options. Compare participants' views and questions to examine more angles. In the results, look for perspectives raised and questions worth exploring further.

Example question · How will remote work change the way our team collaborates?

Judgment — when comparing against criteria

State what matters to you and which conditions could change your choice. Participants discuss the options and their supporting reasons. Read the basis for the judgment alongside any remaining disagreements.

Example question · Based on cost and travel time, which of two event venues is a better fit?

Review — when checking a draft you have already made

Provide the plan, document or code to review, along with its requirements. Focus the discussion on issues, supporting reasons and areas for improvement. Use the results to consider changes and points that still need checking.

Example question · Is there any missing step or hard-to-understand wording in this onboarding guide for new users?

Design — when building a concrete method

Describe the intended result, constraints and conditions that must be met. Compare approaches and work through steps and points to verify. Use the output as a draft to review before putting it into practice.

Example question · Let's design a customer feedback triage process that five staff members can run.

Discussion and output are separate choices

A meeting type shapes the discussion. Choose the conclusion method and output format separately in new meeting setup. Think about the result you need before choosing the type.

Conversation

Explore interpretations and new questions. Revisit the perspectives and open questions in the results.

Verdict

Discuss options against criteria. Examine supporting reasons and remaining disagreement in the result.

Review

Examine an existing draft for issues, reasons and improvements. Use the result as material to check before revising.

Design

Work out an approach and steps within constraints. Treat the output as a draft to review before acting.
